In the past year, Roscrea Lions CLub has received support from many other clubs and organisations. They have also supported many worthy
causes. The following are only a sample.

Deirdre Delaney, daughter of Lilian and Sean Delaney is Systems Director in Burundi and Rwanda with Concern. While on a visit home at Christmas Deirdre was presented with a cheque for €1000 from Roscrea Lions Club for Concern to help in the relief work in Burundi tackling hunger in mothers and babies in Cibitoke Province. The funding came from the generosity of the people of Roscrea and District who contributed to the Lions Third World Annual Collection. The Lions and Deirdre thank the people of Roscrea and district for their generosity.

Funds raised in Roscrea Co Tipperary have contributed to the establishment of 100 vegetable gardens in Burundi. Picture shows a keen young gardener watering his plants. Typical crops are onions, carrots, aubergine and amaranth. The Kitchen Garden campaign supported by the Lions Club contributed to the increase of children eating fresh vegetables from 25% to 43%.

Roscrea Bridge Club supported the Lions Club of Roscrea Rosemary Project with a cheque for €250.

The Lions Club of Roscrea held their annual food and cash appeal over 3 days in December. The cash was turned into well filled food parcels and distributed by Lions members to over 90 needy cases in Roscrea and district. The Lions would like to thank the public for their generous response and all the stores who allowed them set up a collection point, in particular Bemies Supervalu and Tesco.
